Course Description

Math 8 is a continuation of the Math Makes Sense program. The course builds on concepts and skills introduced in previous courses, as well as introducing new concepts and strategies including square roots, operations with mixed fractions, rates & ratios, linear relations, surface area of 3D objects, volumes of prisms and cylinders, and the Pythagorean Theorem. Through videos, assignments, and online practice, learners will explore mathematical concepts, as well as, strengthen their basic math literacy and skills.

Each unit will have a mid-unit assessment and an end unit assessment. Learners are expected to maintain a math journal in addition to their regular notes and assignments as they build their understanding of the concepts.
