How does Driver Education work for DLC students?

Driver Education is offered through your local Saskatchewan school. You will receive 30 hours of online instruction and 6 hours of practice driving with a certified SGI approved driving instructor.

If you have already turned 16, you also have the option to pay for private lessons directly with a driving school, which includes 6 hours of in class instruction and 6 hours of practice driving.

Who qualifies?

Students who are 14 yrs 9 months or older.

What does it cost?

If Driver Education is done through a school, it is free.

Private lesson costs vary by driving school.

Some divisions might charge for you to participate in their session. Sun West will not pay these fees. The Sun West DLC has a free option for our full time students.

How do I get started?

The quickest way to get moving on Driver Education is to contact your local school and ask if you can join their classes.

However, Sun West will not pay any extra fees the school charges for Drivers Education. The Sun West DLC has a free option for our full time students.

What if a school does not let my child join their class, or the class is already in progress, or is over?

Please contact Aaron Biberdorf, Vice Principal, Drivers Ed Coordinator, and he will help facilitate a placement for your child.
