Agricultural Equipment Technicians (AET’s) play an important role in keeping farms up and running and the ag industry moving forward. With the increasing adoption of precision agriculture and appetite for innovation in the field, the need for qualified, passionate AET’s is higher than ever.
What I will learn?
In AET20, you’ll learn about safety, tools and machinery, and what it’s like to be part of this in-demand career. This course consists of 50 hours of online theory, 40 hours of a work placement* at a local ag equipment dealership, and ~ 10-hour optional AET Boot Camp at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. *If you choose not to attend boot camp, you simply complete all 50 hours at the work placement.
Given the seasonal nature of the ag industry, this course is only offered in semester one, with 50 hours of course theory to be completed from September to mid-November and then 50 hours of work placement from mid-November to the end of the semester.
This course will not count as a PAA credit on your transcripts. This is a Locally Determined Option course and upon completion will count as a 20 level elective credit.
Agricultural Equipment Technician 20L requires a work placement, therefore, scheduled AG Dealership site visits by a Career Work Experience (CWEX) teacher are also required. Teachers/ Students: Learn more about work placements.
