The DLC Book Club met at City Perks in Saskatoon on Saturday, June 1st for food, coffee and conversation. Students were able to meet teachers Kayla Osika and Heather Phillips, and discuss their novel study books with peers. The two book club options were “The Burning Girl” by Claire Messud and “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes.
Grade 11 DLC student Mackenzie said, “This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be.” She and the other book club members were able to get together to talk about the books, socialize with peers, and ended up making new friends.
The book club is planning to continue in the new school year this fall with “The Book Thief” by Marcus Zuzak. DLC Book Club members will be able to use the book for their novel study for their ELA A10, ELA B10, ELA 20, and ELA B30 course novel study.
