Elaina Guilmette

Forensics Science 20, Exercise Science 30, Life Transitions 30

B. Ed, M. Ed, Ph.D. Candidate For ten years, I taught Physical Education, Christian Ethics, English and Biology in the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division. This is my second year at the Sun West Distance Learning Center where I teach Exercise Science 30, Forensics 20 and Life Transitions 30.

I teach because I like interacting with students, discovering innovative ways to help students learn and enhance their learning experience to encourage lifelong learning. I am passionate about overall wellness, mental health and encouraging and promoting physical literacy.

As the chair of the Kenaston Community Recreation Board, I spend a great deal of time volunteering in the community and raising money for the local hall, rink and pool. My efforts were recognized this year, when I was rewarded with the Canada 150 medal. As a member of the Kenaston Swimming Pool board I ensure that the facility is operating efficiently and is well maintained. This year, we won $10,000 in the Saskatchewan Go Out and Play Challenge. The money will go towards continual landscaping upgrades surrounding the local pool.

I was born and raised in Kenaston and now live in the same house I grew up in. My husband Bryan and I have been married for 11 years and have four children Jaxon (7), Carson (5), Grace (3) and Holden (18months).
