My career in education has spanned over 18 years - some Canadian schools, some abroad - and nothing prepared me for the pace of change and innovation that I've encountered here. We have more than 3,500 students across this province, ranging in age from 5 to 47 and our team strives to create a personalized learning experience for each student. I credit my rural roots and diverse teaching experiences for giving me the perspective and skills needed to help lead this team. I grew up attending school in Simpson, SK and after obtaining my Bachelor’s degree from the UofS, I headed out in search of professional experiences abroad. Between South East Asia and my time in Saskatchewan schools, I have learned so much from both families and other educators about what exceptional learning looks like. That learning has continued with my move to the DLC.
I’ve always enjoyed learning new things and taking on new challenges. This is one of the reasons I became a teacher. The world of education is constantly evolving and expanding. It’s exciting to be part of a profession that constantly looks to what is best and seeks to improve. I enjoy music, athletics, outdoor pursuits and spending time with people. Good conversation is a must in my life, however solitude and time for thought and reflection is as valuable. I try my best to take the time for what matters most and maintain a positive outlook on everything.
