Careers Corner

Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship program is now being offered by the DLC to students 15 years of age and up. This opportunity is designed to help students better prepare for apprenticeship training after high school. Benefits of completing levels 1, 2, and 3 of the program could include: waiver of the future apprenticeship registration fee (currently $175), no charge for the first level of technical training, and up to 300 hours of trade time credit.

myBlueprint is a high school and career/life planning tool that allows students to explore careers, plan for secondary and post-secondary education, develop a budget, create work-related documents, and so much more. As a DLC student, every student from Grade 7 and up has an account that just needs to be activated. Check it out!

Grade 12 and Adult 12 program student reminders…

Graduation will take place on June 8, 2018. You should have already received a couple of e-mails asking for you to indicate your interest. If you haven’t please let us know. We are excited to share this day with you!

Graduation checklists for credits have been mailed out to each Grade 12 student enrolled prior to December. Those students who have not received a checklist and want to make sure that they are on track for graduation should give us a call or send an e-mail to the address listed below.

Those students planning to attend post-secondary should be looking at ensuring all necessary documentation has been submitted in order to qualify for early admission, including updated documentation surrounding learning needs, if applicable.

  • Regular admission application will begin shortly. Be sure to have preliminary statement of marks, transcripts, language assessments, and up-to-date educational assessments ready to go.

If interested in any of the opportunities listed above or for further information, please contact Renee Harrison, renee.harrison@sunwestsd.ca. Support from the school is available for these and other questions you may have – stay in touch!
